OneGate Zip Code Pages: What Are They?

You may have noticed that OneGate has a few regional pages. There are roughly 42,000 zip codes in the US. We hope eventually to have a OneGate page for every one of them, but at the moment there are just three: 95616 (Davis, CA), 90069 (West Hollywood, CA) and UC Davis (technically UC Davis is in the zip code 95616, but it deserves its own page). We designed these zip code pages for current residents, future residents and visitors: they let visitors know about the zip code's community life and activities, they help new residents find their way around town and figure out how to get involved, and they give current residents a place to find local news, weather, and further explore or rediscover the community.

People who are thinking about moving to or visiting a town get an idea of what life is like from the different categories on the page. The page for 95616 has sections for Education, Pets, and Biking; Davis is a family-oriented community with a good school district and an emphasis on continuing education even into adulthood, and it tends towards a green environmental outlook with a sense of close community. On the other hand, the 90069 page includes categories for nightlife, shopping, and LGBT resources; West Hollywood is in the heart of an urban area and has a younger population with a strong LGBT community presence.

For new residents, zip codes pages are a helpful introduction to the community, and a way to discover important local resources. Newcomers learn about local businesses, groups and programs, and zip code pages alert them to important governmental locations, like the DMV and post office locations.

Zip code pages help long-time residents further explore or rediscover the community; residents can find new restaurants to dine at, read local headlines and news, and get weather reports.
